Finland Eerie Landscapes & Northern Lights in Finland

Arriving at Rovaniemi, you will be picked up from the Rovaniemi airport and taken directly to your hotel in Luosto. The drive will take approximately 1h30min through the snowy landscape. Please note that only 1 group-transfer will be arranged upon arrival (timing to be decided in due course) – please consult us in advance before booking your international flights. You will meet with all the members of the group over the welcome dinner at the hotel. Accommodation: Santa’s Hotel Aurora, standard rooms with fireplace Santa’s Hotel Aurora is in the heart of Luosto Village and combines the enchanting ambience of a fell cottage with the high-quality services of any traditional hotel accommodation. It is in the immediate vicinity with all facilities and events, while it also offers modern and well-equipped 'Arctic View' rooms with a glass ceiling and glass walls.

After breakfast, Today, you will visit a local reindeer farm where you will learn about the life of reindeer herders and, afterwards, you will go for a short sleigh ride with the reindeer, which takes you deep into the Lappish wilderness. and then relax by enjoying a hot cup of coffee around a campfire. Return back to hotel by afternoon. After dinner at hotel, you will join a Northern Lights search expedition with Snowshoes. Our experienced guide will lead you safely to places where you will have high chances of seeing the Northern Lights, and, while waiting, he will share with you interesting facts about this phenomenon, as well about the nature and history of Lapland. While walking on snow, you will experience how the milky light of the moon and stars cast their enchanting shadows through the snowfields. After breakfast, you will be introduced to the basics of traditional cross-country skiing (includes helpful instructions and equipment), and then you will have the chance to implement this newly acquired knowledge to explore the mysterious forests of Luosto. You will return to the hotel for a relaxing afternoon as the night will be full of activity. Later in night, you will join the Arctic Sky and Nature Trail Program. The great northern sky and the serene landscape of Lapland will become familiar to you during this fascinating walk around the picturesque lake Ahvenlampi and an old-growth pine forest. After breakfast, you will pack your belongings as you will move to the Arctic Glass rooms from where you will be able to emerge even deeper into the landscape of the country. Note that the arctic rooms can be used all year round. In the winter, they allow the visitor to get closer to the polar nights and the Aurora Borealis. The unique midsummer sun and the nightless nights of the summer offer a different perspective of the Lappish nature. In autumn and spring, one can observe the behavior of the animals as they prepare for the new season. Through the glass windows and ceiling, the landscape of Luosto unfolds like a new painting every single day. Arctic View Glass rooms are equipped with shower, WC, water boiler with coffee and tea, TV, aurora alarm phone, Wi-Fi and hairdryer. Rooms can be fitted with one extra bed. All other hotel facilities such as reception, the breakfast room, the lobby bar and the restaurant in the main building of Santa's Hotel Aurora are only a few steps away from your Arctic View room. Later we proceed for our next tour – Snowmobile Safari. The best way to get to the heart of nature and back is by an exciting snowmobile safari. During this fun safari you will learn how to snowmobile along frozen swamps and through forests covered with snow. Enjoy the beautiful views of Lappish nature. A break with hot beverages will keep your motor running. Note: A valid driver´s license is required to drive the snowmobile. Later in the evening, In order to maximize the chances of spotting the Northern Lights join a private car tour where finding the dancing lights is the task of the evening. After breakfast at the hotel, you will have the opportunity to experience a wintertime safari with husky teams. After a short transfer by car, you will arrive at a husky ranch, where these friendly dogs will bark an enthusiastic welcome to you. Before departing on the 10 km safari, you will be given instructions on how to navigate the sleds, which you will ride in pairs. Upon your return to the farm, you will enjoy some hot berry juice by an open fire and chat with the head musher about these amazing northern animals. Afternoon is free at your own leisure or to enjoy optional activities like visit to Amethyst mine etc.. Optional activities can be arranged at extra cost. Farewell dinner at the hotel. After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred back to Rovaniemi, where you enjoy a 2-hour visit at the renowned Santa Claus Village, which, besides souvenir shopping, is the right place to meet the “real” Santa.
